Description

This lecture aims to cover a variety of aspects related to farm animal surgery. We will cover sedation and anaesthesia in food animal species as well as how and when to use local anaesthetic blocks. We will discuss in more detail some more common basic surgeries including digit amputations, tail amputations, enucleation and vasectomy. We will also discuss the approach for flank surgeries (however a more thorough description of caesarean sections, displaced abomasum surgeries and rumen surgeries are outside the scope of this webinar). We will talk about possible complications of the described surgeries as well as rational use of antibiotics. Where possible we will discuss species differences in approach
