Description

This presentation will explore the potential challenges recent veterinary graduates find in managing ethical dilemmas in practice. Veterinary Schools in UK now have formal teaching of animal welfare science and ethics. However, there can be a mismatch between this teaching within the “safe” environment of a University course vs the real dilemmas that veterinary practitioners face. For example dilemmas may arise from differences in the personal ethical values and the business ethics of the practice owners. In addition to understanding the nature of these difficulties, the talk will also provide some positive ideas for influencing and communicating with clients and owners.
