Bio

Hayley qualified in 1999. She spent 7 years in mixed practice in Derbyshire before relocating to China and Vietnam to work for ‘Animals Asia’ with bears rescued from the bile farming industry and dogs rescued from the illegal dog meat trade.

 

In 2012 she became the Welfare and Anaesthesia veterinary nurse at the The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at Edinburgh University. Hayley was part of the teaching hospital’s anaesthesia team but also taught nursing and clinical skills in vet schools in low-income countries including Sri Lanka, India, and Bosnia.

 

Hayley now works for a VN training college, and OOH emergency and critical care clinic in Nottingham and is also creating a MOOC on animal welfare in the clinic.

 

Hayley has received the RCVS Golden Jubilee Award, CEVA Vet Nurse of the Year Award, BSAVA’s Veterinary Nurse Award, and was awarded an MBE from the Queen in 2018 for Services to Veterinary Education and Animal Welfare.
