Bio

VAN ‘T KLOOSTER Gijs, Veterinary - Livestock Specialist (MSc Trop Vet Med, Univ. of Utrecht, Netherlands). Has over 35 years of field experience in livestock development mainly in Africa (some in Asia). Main areas of specialization include veterinary epidemiology, animal disease surveillance systems, animal disease and tsetse control, institutional development, communication, community animal health delivery systems, one health,   participatory extension, project management (especially EDF projects), livestock emergency interventions, resilience building and livestock emergency preparedness. Worked as project coordinator, project advisor and consultant at national (EU-Pan-African Rinderpest Campaign - PARC), regional (AU/IBAR – Pan African Program for the Control of Epizootics - PACE) and international levels (FAO-Global Rinderpest Eradication Campaign - GREP). Since 2005 based in Ethiopia again and currently Team Leader of ECTAD and Team Leader of the Animal Health and Production Team of FAO Ethiopia.
