Bio

David graduated from the RVC in 1988 and moved into the pharmaceutical industry after three years in farm animal practice, keeping his hand in for over 10 years with regular weekend companion animal locum work. He is currently employed in a marketing and technical role for a leading animal health company and has postgraduate qualifications in marketing and finance.

David is passionate about the mental health and wellbeing of the veterinary profession. He gained an MPhil and RCVS Fellowship for his research in this field, has published extensively and presented at conferences worldwide.

He was a director of the Veterinary Benevolent Fund from 2008-2014 where he had special responsibility for the Veterinary Surgeons’ Health Support Programme. David was the 2013 recipient of the BVA Chiron Award for outstanding contributions to the profession.

His employment, research and charitable work have given him wide exposure to and an appreciation and understanding of the needs of our profession across its diversity of employment types and career stages. His familiarity with the profession in other countries provides a valuable frame of reference.
