Bio

Dr Gelzer earned her veterinary degree at the University of Bern, Switzerland in 1992, followed by a Masters degree at the University of Bern in collaboration with Novartis, Basel, Switzerland. She completed an internship at the University of Georgia in the USA, and a residency in cardiology at Cornell University, NY.  She is board certified in cardiology from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, (ACVIM) and the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, ECVIM – CA.  She obtained her PhD from the University of Bern in 2010, and was a faculty member at Cornell University, University of Liverpool and since 2015 at the University of Pennsylvania as Associate Professor of Cardiology. In those positions, she trained 13 cardiology residents and her research efforts were focused on arrhythmias. She is the author of 35 scientific articles, many book chapters and a book on ECG interpretation.
