Emergency and Critical Care Nursing – Applying Kirby’s Rule of 20

As veterinary care advances, so does the need for veterinary nursing staff to have an increased knowledge and critical thinking skills. Patients can be hospitalized for the treatment of conditions which require nurses to be confident and skilled in order to monitor these patients and to provide exceptional nursing care. Kirby’s Rule of 20 was developed several years ago by Rebecca Kirby DVM, DACVIM, DACVECC, and this provides guidelines which can aid in ensuring all monitoring and nursing parameters are identified and can be used to develop care plans which are tailored for the individual patient. This webinar will review the Rule of 20 and will look how this can influence our nursing care of patients.
