De-stress after challenging and frustrating days in work with useful and practical skills taught by Mike Scanlan.
Practical skills of noticing, mindful movement and meditation that can help with physical and psychological health problems as well as ongoing life challenges. It is taught in an entirely secular way and has no religious context or content at all.
It is designed to systematically develop mindfulness skills.
Participants will learn to develop mindfulness through ‘formal’ mindfulness meditation practices, including a body scan meditation, various sitting meditations, gentle movement and body awareness exercises.
There are also ‘informal’ practices - bringing mindful attention to ordinary, everyday experiences like brushing your teeth or eating a mouthful of food.
“Mindfulness is the awareness that emerges through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally, to the unfolding of experience from moment to moment.” It may arise informally in everyday life but it can be strengthened by formal and regular practice. Mindfulness is an approach to life based on the understanding that "the present is the only time that any of us have to be alive - to know anything - to perceive - to learn - to act - to change - to heal" (Kabat-Zinn 1990).
Both scientific research and reports from other course participants indicate a wealth of physical and psychological benefits.
"The Mindfulness series came at the perfect time for me, as I had been struggling with stress at work and home for too long. I cannot believe the difference the course has made to all aspects of my life. I have been recommending it to everyone in my practice. Thank you so much."
"Brilliant speaker. Would definitely love to continue and do more programs.
Breathing techniques have helped my everyday life. Thank you."
"A brilliant course with a brilliant speaker who had a voice that was so easy to listen to. Practical and relevant and potentially life changing.
Cannot recommend highly enough."
