Following the success of our Mindfulness Expertise Series, The Webinar Vet is proud to introduce our brand new Sleep Series 2017 with Dr Mike Scanlan.
This 6-week course is aimed at helping people in the veterinary profession understand more about sleep, worry less about sleep, and feel less tired and bothered about the effect that sleep problems have on their lives. By the end of the course, most people will experience improved functioning and feel more relaxed and content. The course is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles, which have a very good evidence base for helping people with sleep pre-occupation disorders and insomnia.
This Series comprises six sessions and will begin at 8pm on the 7th June 2017 with “Choosing Sleep and Understanding Sleep”.
The learning objectives for this Expertise Series are as follows:
- Understand more about sleep processes;
- Learn about the paradoxical sleep effect;
- Understand the importance of sleep hygiene and patterns;
- Learn to defuse thinking;
- Understand more about “the double-edged sword of control”.
Access to the Sleep Series 2017 can be purchased at the standard rate of £35 + VAT per person, but larger groups can buy a practice ticket, valid for up to ten people, for just £175 + VAT. Click on the link below to find out more.
About The Speaker
Dr. Mike Scanlan works as a consultant mental health and wellbeing expert. Mike’s professional areas of interest include sleep, anger, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), forensic mental health, social prescribing, relapse prevention, new ways of working within primary care mental health and perinatal mental health. He has published on a wide variety of areas including sleep and depression, primary care mental health, perinatal mental health, antipsychotic side effects, PTSD, long term conditions, grief and the use of technology to deliver therapy. He provides training on a number of mental health issues both in the UK and abroad.
