Bio

Mike Radford is Reader in Animal Welfare Law in the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. He has more than 30 years’ experience of teaching, researching, and advising on animal welfare law and has worked closely with politicians, officials, and NGOs on the development of policy and legislation.  Mike is presently a visiting lecturer at Edinburgh and Glasgow Vet Schools, chair of both the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW) and the Humane Slaughter Association (HSA), and a member of the Scottish Animal Welfare Commission (SAWC).  He was appointed OBE in 2008 for services to animal welfare law.
