Caroline Hewson

Bio

After practising for six years in the UK, Caroline Hewson moved to Canada. There, she received a PhD from the University of Guelph and, from 2000 to 2006, was inaugural Research Chair in Animal Welfare at the Atlantic Veterinary College. Returning to the UK, she resumed clinical work. Since 2014, she has focused on helping practices advance their care of clients at animals’ end-of-life, through in-house and online learning and resources.

In 2017 she launched The Core Practice Toolbox comprising client resources, checklists, and CPD. Highlights of 2018 are:

  • A book for vets (A Pocket Guide To Veterinary End-Of-Life Discussions, August 2018)
  • A book for pet owners (Your Pet’s End-Of-Life: A Guide For When That Time Comes, August 2018)
  • The Cabaret of Dangerous Ideas, Edinburgh Fringe Festival: an invited co-presentation with a leading palliative care physician
